Kate Phillips BA (Hons) Ceramics and glass

Re-enactment & Historical Potter

Over the past 20 years Kate’s love of ancient pottery has led her research from Neolithic up to the Tudor period using various archeological publications and published museum data about collections of historic pottery.

All her pottery for re-enactment is designed to be used and will often be fired to higher temperatures creating hard-wearing pottery but remaining true to the shape and design of the original. The interior of the pots can be glazed for hygiene or left unglazed as were the originals.

Replica pottery for museum display is made and fired as closely as possible to the way the potter back then would have the original and is based on historical research and archeological drawings.

Illustrated on this page are examples of recently commissioned work.
